Bolbo
Privacy policy
Last updated: 6 October 2026
Bolbo helps Bangla speakers learn German and English. This page explains plainly what the app collects, why, where it is kept, and how to delete it.
Your account
You can try your first lesson without an account; what you learn in it stays on your phone. To keep learning, and to keep your progress, you create an account with an email address and a password, or you sign in with Google. Sign-in and storage are provided by Supabase, the backend service Bolbo runs on.
For your account we store your email address, your display name and the avatar you chose. If you sign in with Google, we also store the address of your Google profile picture so it can show in the app.
Your learning progress
So your progress is not lost when you change phones, Bolbo stores on its server:
- the course sessions you have finished;
- the English vocabulary words you have learned, and when;
- your German vocabulary progress (which words you have met, how often you got them right, and when each comes back for review);
- your streak (current and longest, and the last day you studied) and your total study time.
Your settings stay only on your phone (course, learning goal, daily goal, reminder time, theme and speech speed).
All traffic between the app and the server is encrypted (HTTPS).
Microphone
Bolbo asks for the microphone only when you use speaking practice and tap the microphone. Your speech is turned into text by your phone's speech-recognition service (on most Android phones this is Google's). Bolbo does not record or keep audio.
Notifications
Bolbo asks for permission to send notifications only if you turn on the daily reminder. Reminders are scheduled on your phone.
Crash reports
If the app crashes, a crash report is sent to Sentry, the error-reporting service Bolbo uses, so the problem can be found and fixed. It contains technical details only: the phone model, the Android and app version, and where in the app's code the error happened. It does not contain your email, your name, anything you typed, or any audio.
What we don't do
We don't show ads. We don't use analytics or tracking tools; crash reports are the only technical data sent. We don't sell your data or share it with anyone. Your data is used only to run Bolbo for you.
Deleting your account and data
In the app: open your profile (Dashboard), then Delete account. This deletes your account and everything stored about you on the server, and clears the app's data on your phone. If you are offline at that moment, the server deletion finishes the next time you are online.
You can also ask us to delete your account by writing to the address below.
Children
Bolbo is not directed at children under 13.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will appear in the app with a new date.
